About Jyotish – Illuminating wisdom
Jyotish is a Sanskrit term originating from two roots: jyoti – which means light and Isha – which means Lord. It literally means the Lord of Light. This ancient wisdom is over 5000 years old and originates from the Vedas, India’s spiritual text. Veda is a vast body of knowledge containing instructions in philosophy, yoga, healing and other sciences, which contribute to a well rounded human experience. Jyotish is one of the many limbs of Veda, a Vedanga, and is considered to be the “eye of the Vedas,” the study of light. This study refers not only to the study of the luminaries, of the stars and other celestial bodies in this universe, but also to the study of our inner world, our consciousness.
How is my inner universe connected with the outer one? How to bring them into alignment?
How can I get guidance to help me make decisions that are most beneficial?
Who am I?
What am I here to do?
And why do I always struggle with the same things?
The purpose of Jyotish
Jyotish, or Vedic Astrology, helps us see our qualities, our purpose, our connections to others. It shines light on one’s health, wealth, love and – most importantly – timing. Timing can be everything when we start new endeavors and decide to take on new adventures in our lives. Understanding timing can give us a key to unlocking our potential as well as successes in life, thus bringing the most fruitful harvest.
Vedic astrology is a highly predictive system but it is not about predetermination.
So what is it about?
It is about making the best of what is possible in the here and now and what can bring the most benefit into the furthest future. This ancient wisdom is a science of precision and thus highly predictive, and it is not fatalistic. It brings awareness to our karma, the map of our lives in which we can clearly see the diversity of paths. By shining its light onto these paths, Jyotish can help us choose the best ones to travel on for the desired outcome. Jyotish illuminates our circumstances and makes us aware of what it is that we can change and what it is that most likely we cannot, this bringing forth the wisdom that enables us to see our circumstances in a different and perhaps broader way. With Jyotish we can change our so-called fate through awareness.
Jyotish brings a deeper self-understanding
Jyotish guides us to a deeper self-understanding, which then results in more happiness and success in our lives. We can uncover our limiting habitual patterns and accentuate our gifts, so that we can be ever more happy and useful to all beings, who, just like us, seek love and fulfillment.
Understanding the interaction between the outer universe (the planets and its influences on our lives) and our inner universe can help us gain insights as to why certain things happen in a certain way at a certain time. Uncovering the complex web of our karma – our previous thoughts, words and actions – what results they yield and how they are experienced today – can bring us closer to the state of happiness for which we all strive.
So often we are confronted with decisions at home and at work and rarely do we see all our options. We want to make sure that we make right choices for ourselves and all those around us. Jyotish illuminates our inner wisdom and guides us towards more success in the long run.

The wisdom of the Jyotish transmission is over 5000 years old
The authenticity of Jyotish transmission is essential as it finds its way to the modern Western world. This ancient knowledge is very precise and thus a highly predictive system originating from ancient India and its Vedas. Veda is a vast body of knowledge containing instructions in philosophy, yoga, healing and other sciences, which contribute to a wholeness of human existence. Jyotish is one of the many branches of Veda and it deals with timing and the sky.
Traditionally it is passed on directly to a worthy student, through a family lineage or from a qualified teacher. I have had the great honor of learning directly from Bette Timm, who was a student of Hart DeFouw. Bette worked closely with Hart in California. After meeting Bette in December 2006 and becoming her client a year later, I’ve dedicated the last five years to studying with her. It is under her guidance that I have developed my own practice of consulting and coaching people while using these noble teachings of Jyotish.

Services that Jyotish offers
Jyotish has many tools up its sleeves:
Initial reading reveals the map of our individual life, as well as our bonds to others and the interconnectedness of our inner and outer universes. It is the foundation on which all other methods of Jyotish are built. It is the starting point of a journey that we embark on together.
Through the use of a Prasna, a reading based on the chart of the moment, you can gain insights into your questions and find solutions to your problems. It can also show you where you are today and what to expect for the upcoming year. This is the most commonly used service after the Initial reading.
If you are going on a new journey, deciding to get married or starting a business, it is all a matter of timing, which is the specialty of Jyotish. With the use of Muhurta, an auspicious moment, we can find the best timing for the most beneficial outcome. With Muhurta we infuse all important beginnings with the most beneficial and harmonious energy and really start to influence our complex web of karmas and our lives.
Relationships and compatibility readings offer insights to how we relate to others, how we fit with our loved ones, how we can deepen our understanding of our beloved and how we make all our relationships more fulfilling.
Astromapping can reveal where we are most comfortable in the world at this particular moment in our life, where we are most able to manifest professionally and personally, or where the best place for us to rest and rejuvenate is.
The above services can only work in connection with a deep study of your natal chart, and therefore the Initial reading is necessary, if you wish to use any of the tools that Jyotish has to offer.
